Joe Nice
Joe Nice is a dubstep DJ from Baltimore, Maryland.〔("South London calling" from CBC.ca website ) Matthew McKinnon, January 30, 2007〕 Nice founded New York's irregular Dub War club night, which has hosted performances by British dubstep artists such as Hatcha,〔(flavorpill NYC )〕 Youngsta,〔 Kode9,〔(Time Out New York: Brand new heavy )〕 Mala,〔(Flavorpill NYC )〕 and Loefah.〔 He performs regularly in New York, London (including at scene pillar DMZ),〔(Pitchfork Feature: Column: The Month in Grime / Dubstep )〕〔 and elsewhere.〔(No Cover Review: Joe Nice )〕 He first heard dubstep in 2002, at the Baltimore venue Starscape, and began playing it that same year.〔 He has been praised for his charisma〔(BBC - collective - the sound of dubstep video feature, tracks and image gallery )〕 and stage presence.〔(About 2 Blow: Dubstep: RWD Magazine )〕 In 2005 music journalist Martin Clark also praised him for his access to new dubplates (in contrast to other American dubstep DJs) and willingness to play tracks by lesser-known producers.〔(Pitchfork Feature: Column: The Month in Grime / Dubstep )〕 In 2007, Nice was selected as one of URB magazine's "Next 100". ==Life== Nice was born in Southampton, England〔(Joe Nice )〕 to Trinidadian parents, but moved to Baltimore at the age of two.〔 Nice went to Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland graduating in 1994. He played trombone in the marching band.
